37 Police murdered this year in South Africa

POLICE MURDERS - A law enforcement official is killed every four days in  South Africa.
POLICE ATTACKS - 712 members have been attacked this year alone - 81% of them while on duty.
37 cops killed so far this year alone (as at 3 pm yesterday).

Western Cape has highest reported attacks on members with 274 this year.

Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal have highest reported murders with ten each.

So for those saying that the police stood by and "did nothing" during the recent riots in KwaZulu-Natal, please think before you criticize the honest hard working LEOs who still proudly serve and protect.
Think of their trauma, stress and constant exposure to violence and death. They spend minimal time with their loved ones before they go to sleep and start it all over again.

Spare a thought for their families and loved ones who never know if they will return from their shift.
To everyone insulting the police saying that they stand by and do nothing during riots and protests, please consider and then answer the following:

Are you aware that since the Marikana disaster, the ruling party has put the police on a short leash regarding how they may deal with protests / riots? This is because opposition parties are using the Marikana incident to gain votes. Blame the ruling party, not the Police.

Have you ever been involved in a riot control situation or crowd control of protestors? Have you studied public order policing & law enforcement? Have you been shot at, or had objects thrown at you during a riot? (This question is purely for those who are publicly criticizing the way the police handled the protests this past Monday).

How do you know the cops stood by and did "nothing"? Were you there? Did you witness them "doing nothing"?
