The Latest outrage by Julius Malema leader of the Economic Freedom
Fighters (EFF) is dangerous. Malema is irresponsible and calling for
communities to take action against the ruling African National Congress
(ANC) is warmongering. Malema called for communities to stop burning
public property, such as schools and instead vent their anger by burning
down ANC offices.
Malama has once again shown the world that he is immature and lacks
the temperament to lead with wisdom. The recent violence in the Vuwani
district where 20 schools were burnt by protesters leads to Malema
calling for another tactical response of anarchy.
Inciting violence and calling for mobs to create a volatile situation
within the country is wrong. Malema, who is a leader of a political
party, should not allow such aggression to flow. It is now obvious that
Malema does not have leadership qualities, and people should realize
that burning down a country will not solve problems.
While Malema does have an outspoken and abrupt mannerism, the
carelessness and serious discourse of violence is damaging. Ahead of the
local government elections, such nasty talk is a course of turning
South Africa into an unsafe place of intimidation and instability.
Malema should focus on peace and prosperity for the citizens, and not
act in a reckless manner. As a parliamentarian, Malema has again given
the public another reason to disrupt any peaceful negotiations in the
unstable situation in Vuwani. Burning down schools or universities are
wrong and should not be allowed. Calling for the ongoing rage to
continue and burn down more buildings is fanning the flames of violence.
The violence that will not be resolved until there is nothing left.
The cost of damage to schools and universities can amount to millions
and in the meantime, the education system fails. Learners are
displaced, and the quality of education has declined to a terrible state
is now further ruined.
Malema has been on the road of destruction for a long time and threats
are nothing new. The recent threat to remove the ANC government “through
the barrel of a gun” was reckless. Talking of violently occupying land
and threatening banks with mass action, spell disaster for Malema.
Malema has experience of enticing crowds into a disruptive state and
continues to display immature behavior. Political violence and bloodshed
are not going to stabilize South Africa and leaders like Malema should
advocate peace. Malema has a platform and is embarking on a dangerous
mission by encouraging violence. Malema appeals to the poor and promises
action that will not be delivered. The ANC failed the poor people and
the EFF under the leadership of Malema will not improve the situation.
It would take years of honest leadership to rectify the problems of the
last 21 years.
It should be the leaders who fuse into improving the lives of all
citizens, not agitating people to resort to violent actions. Destruction
of property is costly and can Malema replace the millions of rands of
damage when South Africa has no money.
