Dirt Everywhere

The above photo was taken this week.   It's a street in the South of Johannesburg.   Dirt everywhere.  Such a pity, people like to litter and have no respect for the environment.

While this is only one street, the whole of the south of Johannesburg is like a dumping ground.  Each year the problem escalates and nothing much is done to educate the people about the health hazards, and so forth.   It's like nobody cares.

I remember before 1994 how clean each suburb was kept.  The government cared, the council cared, and people cared.  It was a pleasure to live in such a clean, well cared for country.

And as the years progressed, the litter problem escalated. Yet today, nobody cares.  If one complains to the government departments, the requests are ignored, so many don't even try to get help, simply because they know there will be no response.

I can only imagine what the state of the suburbs will be like in 10 years time, unless intervention is done by a government who actually delivers.
