Telling the Truth – South Africa – Corruption

For several months we have written about the shiftiness of the Security Forces, the National Prosecuting Authority, the Revenue Services in the series, South Africa living in a Cuckoo land and Sins of the fathers. We mentioned names of people who were involved in several corruptions and fraud and more! Now the bubble has burst and people are talking –

The SOU agents’ disinformation campaign alleged that Breytenbach framed Mdluli for fraud because the crime intelligence boss had “evidence” of her Mossad activities and was on the verge of busting the prosecutor.Mdluli has been on suspension for more than two years after a Hawks investigation found he and his colleagues had looted the unit’s secret fund. (See page 2)This information is contained in recorded conversations of a senior “contract agent” of the SOU. The recording of SOU agent George Darmanovich (54), trying to recruit an informant for the unit, is genuine and has been legally obtained by this newspaper.“They framed him [Mdluli]. They made him out to be corrupt,” says Darmanovich.The Serbian immigrant is a “contract agent” for the counterintelligence unit at the SOU, gets a monthly salary, production bonuses and operational money. He claims to report directly to SSA deputy director-general Thulani Dlomo.City Press journalists have also had several dealings with Darmanovich (whose real name is Gorgija Gorg). He has at least seven cellphones and received 11 gun licences in 2011 on the strength of his SOU work.Darmanovich likes to flaunt a photograph of himself with President Jacob Zuma on his cellphone and claims to meet the president regularly. It has not been established if the photograph is genuine.In the recorded conversation, Darmanovich said of Breytenbach: “You see, we have her for treason. She has taken money from foreign intelligence. Richard Mdluli was on to all these people and they then made him out to be corrupt. So they framed him.”In the smear campaign, Darmanovich leaked dockets to the media purporting to prove that Breytenbach was “on the take” and so had refused to prosecute high-profile fraudsters.Among the documents that Darmanovich leaked were the cases of Ponzi mastermind Barry Tannenbaum, as well as fraudsters and colluders in the construction sector.In the recording, Darmanovich claims he meets Mdluli from time to time and there is a plan to give the general back his position.In the process, some members of the SOU have conspired to also discredit other Mdluli “enemies” like Hawks’ head Lieutenant General Anwa Dramat and former crime intelligence acting head Major General Mark Hankel.The two earned Mdluli’s ire when they refused to back down on murder, kidnapping, assault, fraud and corruption cases against him. Read the entire story – published in City Press August 2014How spy unit nailed Richard Mdluli ‘foes’Jacques Pauw @City_Press 10 August 2014 15:00 

The readers following our series would note that all the time we were telling the truth. For instance in Sins of the Fathers Part 5(published in June 2014) we wrote –

Thomas works very closely with Darmanovitch. They have various journalists on their payroll i.e. Jacques Pauw, also very unsavory. He seems to slink around like a Hyena. He writes stories for “City Press” and these journalists write articles, which is then referred to as so called evidence by Thomas. It was alleged that Thomas also had an affair with Sally Evans, an investigative journalist working for Mail&Guardian.Indeed, it would appear that he is an agent of influence. According to Darmanovitch, Thomas is the instrument through which he, as a self confessed consultant for the Intelligence Services (whatever that may mean) can influence the Press. In addition, that they indeed do. What is the truth and what is not?
Not only this but Darmanovitch and Thomas have also been in contact with people such as Genl Nyembe, the Head of Defense Intelligence, Genl Modise and a Col Ngobeni. These three persons have been pointed out as being set on abusing the State’s resources in order to enrich themselves. In this regard, they are in serious competition with Dennis Buthelezi, the Director Genl of the State Security Agency (SSA). These people have no scruples in telling people that they want to share in the business and that all of the problems will then go away. The problem that they created in the first instance! These two poison brothers have no scruples in badmouthing Genl Richard Mdluli when it suits him and sends disinformation into the world about him. They do the same with Genl Sibiya, the Head of the corrupt HAWKS investigation unit of the SAPS. They also claim that Genl Sibiya is at their disposal and parades him at lunches whence he appears. Unknowingly that they are parading him in order to fleece one or other innocent victim.Here is a link to this article

What most people do realise is that this is a crude attempt at disinformation. Sad how amateur this is.

The crime intelligence arm of South Africa is a complete fiasco and has been caught up in a frightful disregard to the democracy of the country. The crime intelligence sector of the South African Police is so secretive in all their dealings, additionally their mandate to gather information is highly questionable. Despite having a secretive and incredible large and diverse budget.The crime intelligence division is a vitally fundamental structure of combating crime within the country and is not performing at its best. Crime intelligence is a powerful intelligence organization which prescribes to all the institutions involved in Intelligence gathering. They are also linked in a very worrying with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).The failing structure within this section is hampered with committed fraud and corruption and the wrestle for political control. Maladministration brought into the system by improper political interference, infighting and poor governance are the leading causes for the shambles of the crime intelligence division.

 Now is that not irony, to say the least, when I have been viciously attacked for telling the truth. Threatened and slandered for my writing. Called a conspiracy theorist, sensationalist and mocked for telling the truth. At least somebody is spilling the beans and this time a few heads might roll – can you imagine!
