Julius Malema leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has
earmarked areas that will be expropriated without compensation. In a
Twitter feed, Malema will take areas such as Stellenbosch, Roodepoort
and Orange Farm for distribution. Does Malema believe that the EFF party
can march onto properties, evict the people and lay claim to the land?
Once again the chubby man-child in true African spirit is demanding
because he believes he will receive.
Malema is not a stupid person; he knows how to fire-up and agitate
crowds. There are millions of disillusioned black individuals who grasp
the words and promises of Malema, who knows how to tap into their
pessimism. Malema is promising the masses free land, which he does not
have and will now forcefully take away to give to the multitudes.
What Malema is doing is emulating the policies of his hero, Robert
Mugabe, the president of Zimbabwe. Mugabe sent thousands of war veterans
to get the farmers off the land. If the farmer refused to leave, they
were killed or beaten. What army is Malema going to send to get whites
off their legally owned properties? Dictators never play fair, and
should people believe that Malema will engage in an appropriate program
of land distribution? No, not, years ago, Malema said that “We’re not
going to beat up white people on the farms. We’re going to engage in a
program which will make them understand they must surrender the land.”
The question is what program does Malema have in mind?
It is a fact, that South African farmers have owned their land for
years and in some cases for over 300 years. The farmers had toiled,
ploughed, planted, harvested and remain concerned when droughts
threatened the sustainability of a farm. The dedication and hard work by
the farmers were for the benefit of the population who ate the fruits
of their labor. Now the unskilled want the land back for nothing and
bearing in mind that farmland given to blacks are today unproductive. Land that belonged to nobody centuries ago and now this land is their birthright.
Both the EFF and the African National Congress (ANC) want the white
people’s land, the land that is already developed. The lands that are
toiled, and sown, the land where roads and houses have been built, Land
where infrastructure works. They do not want undeveloped land as there
will be nothing developed, it would be hard work.
Malema has made land reform the key issue ahead of the local
government elections. In true form, there is no thought given to the
consequences following stupid actions. Malema should petition the ANC
government to start governing the country properly instead of rattling
and convincing his uneducated followers to get whites off their lands.
Malema is dangerous and should not be underestimated.
Here is the story curtsy of Boere Krisis Aksie:
The Economic Freedom Fighters have identified areas in Stellenbosch,
Sandton, Roodepoort and Orange Farm as amongst the areas they will
occupy ‘without compensation.’
They didn’t say what they planned to do with the whites who now
already live and farm there. They also didn’t say what they intend to do
with the many tens of thousands of poor black families who already live
at Orange Farm – which is not a ‘farm’ but a squatter camp…
The outlaw-party revealed on Monday that some of the land they have
identified will be used to build hospitals‚ police stations‚ taxi ranks
and farming.
“We shall expropriate land without compensation for equal
redistribution. This is the EFF Land Plan‚” the party said on its
Twitter feed.
“The EFF is prepared to fight for the allocation of land till the
highest court in the land. We can’t pay for stolen land‚” the party
said.
It identified Stellenbosch in the Western Cape as well as Gauteng’s
Sandton‚ Roodepoort and Orange Farm amongst some of the areas which it
has its eye on for land redistribution.
“Kayamandi next to Stellenbosch is an area of to square kilometres with a 24‚645 and with 5‚551 households per km2.
“Stellenbosch is an area of 793.5 km2 with a population of 35‚570‚
and about ten households square kilometres while Kayamandi next to it
suffers.”
The EFF said the Roodepoort and Orange Farm areas had long been identified “as having great potential for farming.”
The party signaled that Sandton‚ which has a lesser population
compared to its neighbouring township Alexandra, which is home to more
than 500‚000 people has been eyed for expanding Alex.
The EFF indicated that it would contest all 278 municipalities for the upcoming elections.”
