The Dirty Streets of Johannesburg

Johannesburg is dirty; rubbish is piling up as the strike continues. Pickup works have once again embarked on a strike – for more money. It is always about the money.
The past four months have seen the refuse giant go on strike about four times.  It must be weak management that cannot resolve the wage issues. In the meantime, the city is becoming a filthy place, especially around the CBD area, where rubbish is piled up leaving no space for pedestrians.

The suburbs are being affected by the non-collection of garbage as the dirt piles up causing a health hazard. It is not only the unsightly rubbish that people have to look at; it is the stench that is unbearable.

While the strike enters it is the third week, Pikitup management says there is a contingency plan in place and its costing a fortune. Whatever plan they have, it is not working. The streets remain filthy.
