A man and his dog were shot during an armed robbery at a house in Nooitgedacht.
Two unknown men entered a house in Old Pretoria Road and pointed a firearm at two victims on 25 March at about 11.40pm. According to Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya of Muldersdrift SAPS, “[The suspects] ordered the two men to lie down on the ground and then proceeded to demand money and other items.”
The home owner’s dog came into the house and tried to rescue the victims. It was then that the suspect shot and killed the dog. “The victim stood up trying to fight back and was also shot in the upper body. Paramedics certified him dead on their arrival,” added WO Ngwenya.
It is further alleged that the suspects took a handbag from the house and fled the scene on foot. A case docket of armed robbery and murder was opened for further investigation.
The police are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of these criminals, to please come forward. As these suspects are deemed to be extremely dangerous, members of the public are urged not to approach them.
